◊ GEOGRAPHY
Hai Phong is a large city with an important seaport of Viet Nam. Hai Phong is near Quang Ninh Province to the north, Hai Duong Province to the west, and Thai Binh Province to the south.
Climate: Because of the proximity to the East Sea, Hai Phong's weather is affected by inter-tropical monsoons. The average annual temperature varies between 230C and 240C.
◊ TOURISM Hai Phong has many temples, pagodas, mausoleums and shrines such as ancient Du Hang Pagoda, Nghe Temple, Hang Kenh Communal House...
Hai Phong has famous historical Bach Dang River, where the national heroes defeated three Chinese feudal invasions. The third victory over the Yuan-Mongolians was known all over the world. Many of the teakwood pointed spikes have been discovered in this river. Hai Phong is on tourism route: Ha Noi - Hai Phong - Ha Long Bay.
Do Son Beach, located 20km from Hai Phong, is a sand strip for bathing. However, during the monsoon season, the Red River's alluvial sands cause the water to turn yellow. From Do Son, tourist can visit Cat Ba National Park, and continue to Bai Tu Long Bay and Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh Province).
Hai Phong is also famous for many festivals, of which Choi Trau Festival (Do Son Buffalo-fighting festival) in Do Son is unique.

Hai Phong is served by an important transportation network of sea routes, roads, railways, and airlines. Hai Phong City is 102km southeast of Ha Noi, 60km from Ha Long City, and 70km from Thai Binh City following National Road N°.10.
Bus: Niem Nghia Inter-provincial Bus Station and Cau Rao Bus Station offer some buses links Hai Phong to many provinces.
Air: Cat Bi International Airport is 5km from centre of Hai Phong City. There are domestic flights from Hai Phong to Da Nang, Tuy Hoa, Nha Trang, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku, Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Phu Quoc. There are international flights between Hai Phong and Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand and Korea.
Railway: There are trains from Hai Phong to Ha Noi and vice versa.
Boat: Hydrofoils and boats run between Hai Phong (Ben Binh Dock) and Cat Ba about 10 trips a day in summer season. There are 2 trips by hydrofoil (departs from Hai Phong from Cat Ba and vice versa) and two trips by boat (depart from Hai Phong from Cat Ba and vice versa) a day in the rest of year.
