Vietnam to host first ever paragliding tournament
Update: Nov 02, 2012
Vietnam's first ever paragliding competition will be held in Lac Son District in the northern province of Hoa Binh from November 16-18.

The organising board said that the event will see 30 pilots from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City paragliding clubs as well as from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore.

The event is a great opportunity for the sport to develop in Vietnam, it said, adding this will also enable the country to hold annual paragliding competitions in the future, making them major official events in the region.

Vietnamese pilots will be able to learn from their foreign counterparts and prepare for future paragliding tournaments around Southeast Asia and Asia.

Paragliding first came to Vietnam 10 years ago and at present, roughly 200 Vietnamese pilots take part in the sport.
