Head of JNTO representative office in Viet Nam: Viet Nam should be proud of its culture and culinary tourism

On July 15, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh had meeting with Mr. Takahashi Ayumi, Head of JNTO representative office in Viet Nam.

Warmly welcoming Mr. Takahashi Ayumi, Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh congratulated him on completing his term as Head of JNTO representative office in Viet Nam. He highly appreciated Mr. Takahashi Ayumi's contribution in tourism promotion between Japan and Viet Nam, enhancing visitor and people-to-people exchanges between two countries.
 
In his suggestions on strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries, Mr. Takahashi Ayumi affirmed that factors such as nature, culture, history, cuisine, and hospitality of Vietnamese people have created the attraction of Vietnam tourism.
 
Emphasizing the uniqueness of the cuisine, he said that Vietnamese dishes are delicious, varied, good for health and very attractive to Japanese tourists. Viet Nam should promote its culinary, build a culinary map, and introduce local cuisine. These make the impression "Viet Nam - a gourmet country".
 
He also said, Japanese tourists like to visit world heritage sites namely Hoi An Ancient Town, Ha Long Bay and destinations of Sapa, Phu Quoc Island, Ban Gioc Waterfall, Phong Nha Cave, Con Dao Island…
 
Sharing about these ideas, Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh said that Viet Nam has been honored as Asia's leading cultural and culinary destination 2018, 2019 and 2020. Cultural and culinary tourism is identified as one of the key tourism products in Viet Nam tourism development strategy.
 
Regarding tourism promotion, Mr. Takahashi Ayumi emphasized the role of digital marketing. Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh informed that VNAT has developed website vietnam.travel to promote Vietnam tourism in difference languages including Japanese. This will be a useful information channel for Japanese tourists in near future.
 
At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh also shared about pilot plan to reopen inbound tourism in Phu Quoc City (in Kien Giang Province) using COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.
