Hue to fire cannons of Flag Tower for tourists
Update: Oct 24, 2017
The Flag Tower in Hue imperial citadel will be lit at night and the cannons will be fired for the enjoyment of tourists and local residents.

This has been unveiled by Nguyen Dung, vice chairman of Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee.

Part of the project by the Committee to turn Hue into the worth living tourism city is to light the Flag Tower at night.

About 1,000 LED bulbs will be installed around the Flag Tower to light up the Ngo Mon Square and surrounding areas every night.

The firing of cannons at the Flag Tower will reproduce a scene in past activities of the Nguyen dynasty, said Mr. Dung.

Thua Thien-Hue also plans to beautify Dong Ba market at night. Moreover, a pedestrian street next to Huong (Perfumed) River will take shape in late November with funding sourced from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Truong Tien bridge is being upgraded to become a walking bridge at weekend nights and to connect with other pedestrian streets and streets next to the Huong River.
