Vietnam takes part in World Folksong Festival

Twenty Vietnamese artists are joining 1,000 singers from around the globe in the World Folksong Festival, which opened in Beijing on October 3, 2008
The Vietnamese team performed the song “Cay Truc Xinh” (Little Bamboo) in the opening ceremony. They will give a separate performance and two joint ones during the weeklong festival.

The festival is jointly held by the Chinese Culture Ministry, the traditional music academy and the national theatre with the aim to preserve and promote folk music of nations in the world.

According to the organising board, the festival will be held biennially.
